PostSubject: New Guy Here with a Fullsize!   Sun Mar 18, 2012 9:13 am

Thanks to my good buddy Dave at adventure duo, I have gotten the expo fever. I was a rockcrawling guy, with a jeep on 35's. I sold it, but have a 2004 Dodge Ram CTD quad cab long bed 4x4. I am seriously considering working on adding some goodies to turn it into an expedition ready vehicle. I don't want to do TOO tight of trails, since its a LONG vehicle, but I would love to do some overland exploring. Any ideas on what are some good starting mods I can do for fairly cheap? Its already got a Kilby Enterprises engine driven compressor on it (just needs plumbed). Here are some pictures of how it currently stands. Its got 315/70/17 Firestone Destination AT's on it Any advice is appreciated, and I already know I am going to enjoy it here.

I have been a lurker for a little while, and really like it here. One of my many side projects is being a dealer for Amsoil synthetic lubricants. I am very interested in being a vendor on this site. One question I have, is there a charge for such a privilege?

Hello & Welcome to the Forum!

Nice to see some American Trucks on here! That is one long truck!
As for any mods, just try to keep it as practical as possible. Aiming for cargo storage and reliability. Then again you can spend ££££ or $$$$ and get a winch, rock sliders and the list goes on. It all depends on where you are going. Im not too familiar with the type of Terrain available in the USA but I do know that there is someone who has recently done alot of touring there in his Nissan pickup. I will find the link to his site for you to look at. Here is a link to them on this forum, and here is one of his video's.

Regarding your Amsoil synthetic lubricants, there is a section on this forum HERE where you can advertise your wares, promote your website if you have one and contact details, This feature is FREE.
As long as that section stays professional and specifically for companies advertising their wares there should be no problems, if there are any issues you/members can contact either myself or the ring leader of our little group, Tom Mc.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys! I will be sure to post up a truck build thread. I am working on adding things slowly. I have a trip report from Mojave Road I will be posting up shortly. My truck build is slow, as I don't have a ton of money to pour into the truck at the moment. I look forward to participating here!

Hi and welcome!!

See you are from Lake Arrowhead.

Don't know how large it is, but, have you come across a Barry Illman there? He is into off road bikes.

Old school friend of mine from South Africa.

Hi Scott, an official welcome from me too! cheers

TinCanJas has said it all really, stick to the Commecial section if you want to mention what you do trade-wise, while the rest of the forum is there for you to talk about your travels, the proposed truck build, etc.

Yep, that is one l o n g truck! Hate to think what the ramp breakover angle is, "not a lot" has to be the answer!!! affraid I assume you call it the same thing in the States (the point under the vehicle between the front and rear wheels where the ground touches) if not, then simply Google 'ramp breakover angle'.

No need, just found this on an American site, obviously is more or less the same terminology:-

Hi and welcome to the forum, it's always nice to see members from other countries.

Loads of pictures of your extra long truck conversion would be great, there seems to be loads more bits and bobs for pick ups in the states, they are becoming more popular over here but normally as work vehicles and it will be a long time before they get to be as popular as the green ovals.
