Hello Everyone.

Had a LWB Series 2 when I first got married back in 76. Had to swap it for a Mini as it became too expensive to run as well as the wife. Contracted a severe dose of LR virus about 6 years ago after a "long drought". In an attempt to cure the ailment I bought a well kitted out 1988 LR 90. Joined the local LR club and all was well. Enjoyed club runs that both excited and terrified me. Unfortunately those symptoms reappeared and caused me to buy a 2003 D2 to keep the 90 company and stave off the fever. I decided to buy the D2 so that I could make longer journeys with comfort and speed to the South Island allowing more time to explore. I use the 90 for closer more extreme club events. Both give me a good deal of pleasure BUT I feel yet another itch that may need attention!. Fancy a rag top Series. Roof off, windscreen down, pair of goggles, set of foul weather gear and into some serious driving.

Of course if I had sufficient covered space I would create a home for unloved LRs. A sort of SPCLRs. I congratulate everyone on what is a superb 4x4 web site and hope I can contribute something worthwhile to the cause. Haven't yet mastered the art of adding a photo or two. Will include some when I crack what is probably a very simple process. Cheers. Vicar.

Welcome to the Forum!

I could be wrong but I think your one of the 1st members from New Zealand!

Sounds like you have certainly got the "bug" for Land Rovers. I look forward to hearing more about your LR's on here.

Jason

Hello Jason,

I am sure there will be a few more from NZ appear on the site in the future. The Club I belong to is the Land Rover Owners Club Auckland. There are about 83 members and although it is a city club and LR purist, it is a real get out there and get stuck in bunch of guys and gals. We have a web site LROCA.org.nz that will give you some insight of what we get up to. Unfortunately the gallery crashed and burned due to the server so the only photies are with the main articles. Still feel free to ask for any info about the 4x4 scene down here.

Hi Vic! A dyed-in-the-wool Land Rover nut eh? Join the club mate.

Gawd knows why we like the darn things so much, given that they are hardly the most reliable vehicles around, but they do have a certain charm that even non-Green Oval owners can identify with. That aside, LR's tend to attract a particular type of person, the sort of people in fact that are the same the world over - friendly, helpful and sharing. Something that can be said of off-roaders in general, but again particulary of Land Rover folk.

Anyway, I'm waffling again - welcome mate!
