I know this is not what you were looking for but its an epic example of an all terrain camper IMO. Truly stunning inside.

They are nicknamed "urinals" for a reason.

"Urinals" - great! laughing pound

As for the couple escaping before the bridge together with their beloved Mog camper crashed into a ravine -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2040498/Britons-Lesley-Norris-Bruce-Scott-Amazon-crash-say-travelling.html#ixzz1cz4i9GOA

- don't you just the comments of the quick-thinking Consul and his blatant piece of arse-covering?

"British Consul Vincent Brown said he would have advised the couple against making the trip if they had consulted him."

Yeah sure, we believe you Vincent!!! Wink

Any Luck on finding a Unimog?

I found this today. And I Want it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/URAL-4320-BOX-TRUCK-UK-ROAD-REGISTERED-/150747318731?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item23193d89cb#ht_1246wt_932 , The combination of bad ass Russian truck, 10L diesel heavy oil burner, 50MPH time warp, epic camo meeting super off road is somewhat splendiferously manly.

No, not yet but i am still looking and have many feelers out.

As for the Urals, not a very good truck as they are pretty unreliable and its the engine which gives problems, anything else can be sorted.

I went past the Mercedes garage this morning in Swindon and they have 2x Huge brand new AMG Unimog's out the front. There was no ££££££ on them but its got the be hundreds of thousands. The looked sweet mate, this image I pulled from the net here but it looks sweet. Absolute no use to you i expect. If i was not in a rush I would have pulled up and had a good snoop around!

Pig-ugly those new Mogs, looks as if a big African bull elephant sat on the front! No

I think they look sweet. They are meant to be quite rapid for a Mog, and the incab dials and switches are soooo cool.

Not in the slightest, in fact I once pulled a mate's Land Rover Lightweight out of the mud with a Nissan Micra hire car! No shame at all, he was in a muddy rutted section and I was able to pull alongside him on concrete which with a 'little bit of speed' gave me enough oomph* to drag him clear as the twang* gave him enough momentum to gain forward motion.

* oomph and twang ... well know technical terms. Wink

BTW, before posting this I cut & pasted the entire text into a Word document to check the spelling (as I often do), and the only words that had a red line underneath denoting incorrect spelling were Rangie and Micra - not oomph and twang. Smile

Still think the new Mog is ugly, doesn't detract from it's immense capabilities though.

Mogs - great trucks but like all the big boys - if they get stuck who gets you out

and the other problem fuel economy - or lack of it............

With a 30 tonne hydraulic winch you get yourself out.

As long as there is something to strap the cable to. I don't think a ground anchor will take it.

You beat me too it...... we were worried when travelling with a mog 1300 that if it got stuck it was gonna stay there in libya. so on a couple of dunes we sand matted it up

If we worked on the basis of something getting stuck we would go nowhere, and virtually every vehicle would get stuck before a correctly driven Mog would even begin to lose its cool.

An onboard Hiab crane would help too, that way you could lift yourself up to stick mats or rocks under the wheels. See it done with a 6x6 Foden as it happens. Yes it took a while, but when all options have been explored ...
