A friend of mine in the US snapped these a fue years ago at a scrap yard, pritty amazing stuff, the first 3 pics are taken by him and the last is from google. What a tool!

Looks mentle, used by the USA army, not too sure for what, im pritty sure it was electric run, like those building platform movers. Love the look of the tyres, look similar to the sand tyres a frind had on his quadbike.
Can't imagine the weight of the thing, put some tracks on it and the overland train is not far of a Star Wars sandcrawler. Laughing

Gotta say, I've never seen one of those. Articulated in the middle I'd guess, like a Gamma Goat, only a hellava lot bigger.

Wonder what they were designed for? Something specific obviously which needed low ground pressure and a LOT of ground clearance - boggy or sandy ground perhaps??? Some type of aircraft shifter??? I'm stumped!

They were developed even before this, AEC developed an electric driven train for use in inhospitable areas as a possible replacement for the three road trains they developed for Australia, which serviced the outback with its three 15 ton Dyson trailers.

The company used their own engines to power the main tractor, and connection to each trailer meant each trailer could provide drive in difficult terrain if need be. They were never fully developed due to their complexity and a lack of funding to fully develop them using the emerging train traction motor technologies.
